It took Aziraphale a moment to notice Crowley. Scowling in a corner of the village square, he was partially obscured by a bed of daffodils. "Listen to that," he hissed, craning his neck toward the crowd.
"Festive, isn't it?" Aziraphale tried to focus on the band, but his eyes kept darting back.
Crowley snorted. "It sounds like a herd of love-sick deer."
"I rather like it."
"Of course you do; it's an angelic instrument." He cocked his head. "Do you play, then?"
"Oh, erm..." On a sustaining, almost mournful tone, the song ended. When Aziraphale looked back, Crowley was gone.
