The intruder – lured by the power of the dragon’s pearl – named himself Gien and his followers deemed him saint. For Gien wasn’t his true name, the dragon couldn’t impose its will onto him.

Their powers clashed.
For eight days and eight nights, new magic battled the old until the dragon could stand no more. Gien took the pearl and imprisoned its former owner.

They founded a place of worship over the wyrm’s confinement and with impious audacity named it the Dragon Lid Temple. There, the dragon sleeps beneath the waters of its pond, forever dreaming.
